So you've decided to have a beach wedding, and you've chosen your perfect dress or gown, and then you remember that you will actually be walking on a beach which clearly means sand. Sand is notoriously hard to walk on and is definitely the challenge of beach weddings.

Now if you are getting married at an established destination wedding location you will probably have a walkway that keeps you happily out of sand. If you are planning your own beach wedding, you probably won't have the same equipment available at wedding resorts so you will want to plan accordingly. Some people choose a casual sandal style shoe, others go for bride and groom flips flops, and then some just go barefoot. Your choice of beach wedding shoes will greatly depend on just how 'casual' you choose to go.

Something to keep in mind when choosing a shoe for your beach wedding is that you will generally be walking around and enjoying your surroundings as well as attending your reception. The mistake that some brides make is thinking that this beach wedding is just like any other wedding location just with a great view. Unfortunately that kind of thinking will keep you from the enjoying the truly casual nature of the beach - in other words, don't try to make it something that it's not. Many a brides have felt foolish trying to show up to their beach wedding in ridiculous shoes that just won't work for the venue. It may work in the movies, but in real life you will be uncomfortable, have ruined shoes, and could end up hurting. Do yourself a huge favor, and buy comfortable and beach appropriate shoes for your special day.
